A relatively short boat ride away, Rottnest Island is a must do attraction of Perth. I haven’t been in many years, but I’m so glad I chose to spend the last day of holidays rediscovering it.
Travelling by Rottnest Express boat early in the morning was pleasant apart from the early start. Mornings are not my thing. I cannot recommend the Electronic Bikes enough! The island can be hilly, and pedal power is the best way to travel. I was lugging shade tents and snacks but didn’t get tired thanks to the pedal assist.
I (and friends) pedalled around the island, stopped for morning tea and lunch at different beaches. We cooled off by swimming in the clear waters. Lastly, we had a drink by the jetty before catching the last ferry home.
I’d be interested in staying overnight or using a chartered boat next time, but hoping to be a more regular visitor to the place.
