How I Quickly Automated Sharing with Zapier

Hey there! In today’s digital world, it’s important to make our lives easier and reach more people with our Travel Blog content. That’s why I’ve been exploring Automation and ChatGPT tools. I want to share how I simplified my social media strategy by automating the process of sharing my WordPress posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using Zapier. I’m not paid or endorsed by Zapier but I love their system. If you have an alternative give me a shout and I’ll try it out to compare! In the meantime, let’s dive in and explore how you can effortlessly distribute your content across multiple social media platforms.

Step 1: Setting up Zapier: Choosing the Free Account

First things first, I got myself a Zapier account. It’s an awesome platform that connects various apps and makes automation a breeze. For casual bloggers like myself the free plan is plenty! but check out the pricing plans below

Step 2: Creating the Zap for Facebook: Let the Magic Begin

Once I started the free trial, it was time to create a Zap. As part of the process Zapier will guide you through linking the apps. I linked my WordPress site, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to Zapier and it was pretty straightforward. I set up WordPress as the trigger app, so whenever I published a new post on my site, Zapier would swing into action.

Step 3: Configuring the Facebook Action: Personalising My Facebook Posts and Testing

I configured the action for Facebook. I selected the “Create Page Post” option and linked it to my Facebook page. Then, I mapped the fields like post content, title, and URL from the WordPress trigger to the Facebook action and completed a test to ensure everything was running smoothly.

Overcoming Instagram Image Link Challenges: The Workaround

When I initially attempted to set up a Zap for Instagram, I ran into some trouble. Instagram for Business didn’t quite like links to my featured images provided by WordPress and I couldn’t figure out what value out of the list provided it was looking for.

However, I didn’t give up! I decided to be lazy and create a Zap that utilised Facebook as the trigger instead of WordPress. So, whenever a new post went live on my WordPress site, Zapier would trigger a Facebook post containing the desired featured image. Then, I set up a separate Zap to automatically post that Facebook content to Instagram. Voila! It worked like a charm, and my Instagram posts were now complete with eye-catching featured images.

So there you have it! That’s how I how I quickly automated sharing with Zapier. It took me roughly 30 minutes and I have Zapier a solid 7/10 for their platform. By following these steps and using a little creativity, you can automate the process of sharing your WordPress posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It will save you loads of time and help your content reach a wider audience effortlessly. Say goodbye to manual sharing and hello to a streamlined social media strategy!
