Authoring Travel Blogs with ChatGPT: Love it or Hate it?

In today’s digital era, AI has revolutionised various industries, including travel. Enter ChatGPT, a language model that can generate travel blogs without the writer actually experiencing the destinations. So I’m asking the question, is it ethical to be authoring travel blogs with chatGPT to develop a social media prescence and expand audience reach.

You might have noticed the language in Easter Weekend Getaway at Big Brook Arboretum was a little different. It was mostly drafted in chatGPT, but then refined with additional prompts and then edited. I’ve put a snippet below of the conversation and you can see it in full at this link. My first prompt was Refined with with “Add a paragraph about exploring Pemberton and camping with friends, and the communal camp fire and dog friendly nature of the camp sites” and “make it more casual language”.

I did use all my own photos, and I did go to the Big Brook Arboretum on Easter weekend. Does that make my use of ChatGPT to help with the writing more appropriate? Personally, I think it’s create a better article than My reconnoitre of Marina Bay Sands and Garden or Kayaking in the Pulau Ubin Mangrove. What do you think?

I struggle to regularly post and stick to this blog. I can see chatGPT as a great tool to simplify the workload. But is it good writing? Will it get me more followers? Does it matter? I guess the jury is out but I’m intrigued to see what happens and I’m still exploring what direction I’m taking this blog and the bus in. What about you?

P.S. You’ll notice that I’ve added a new tag to articles that have been authored with ChatGPT for full accountability.
